It is more practical, also most definitely easier to brand. Industries want to brand specific produce. This way you can charge higher prices is something is associated with a brand.

Not the consumer I highly doubt! It must be a way to transport easier but also predetermine size servings for customers. Buying things that have plastic is usually a little more convenient but also can be more expensive. I am sure customers if handed a clear choice would go with plastic-less.
