I will replace dryer sheets with a reusable alternative or use nothing at all.
At Home
Ditch the Disposable Cleaning Wipes
I will replace my disposable cleaning wipes with a reusable brush or cloth.
At Home
Make Green Cleaners
I will make 2 of my own cleaning products (cleaners, detergents, soaps) instead of buying them in new spray bottles each time.
Food
Swap the Snacks
I will swap 1 prepackaged snacks for unpackaged fruits or veggies or homemade or bulk items each time we need more.
At Home
Plastic-Free Caffeine Routine

On-the-go

Barb Wasmoen 2/15/2023 8:42 AMToday I made a batch of laundry soap. I choose to make mine liquid and it takes about 15 minutes. The great thing is that it costs, at most, 2 dollars to make 2 gallons. -
Barb Wasmoen 2/15/2023 8:41 AMGreat, I can get a little lazy, so it is good to be rethinking about my actions. -
Reflection QuestionAt Home Ditch the Disposable Cleaning WipesHow have you modified your cleaning routine to make sure you aren't using disposable wipes? Are you satisfied with the results?
Barb Wasmoen 2/15/2023 8:38 AMWe used wipes a bit during the pandemic, except for cleaning up poop, it has been no problem. -
Reflection QuestionAt Home Skip the Dryer SheetsHow difficult (or easy!) has it been for you to cut dryer sheets from your laundry routine?
Barb Wasmoen 2/15/2023 8:37 AMI never liked them in the first place - using a wool dryer ball is easy, odor free and no static! -

Reflection QuestionAt Home Avoid Harmful PlasticsDo some research on polystyrene and polyvinyl. How many items in your house already contain these toxins?
Barb Wasmoen 2/15/2023 8:32 AMWay too many products use polystyrene or polyvinyl. Most plastic things you buy are made of one of these 2 - all I can do right now, is make a good choice - is it worth buying? Things I won't buy - big juice bottles - I buy a can of frozen concentrate instead, soda in plastic bottles - who really needs soda? and any more plastic storage containers. I store in glass as much as possible. -
Reflection QuestionAt Home Recycle Plastic BagsHas separating your plastic bags for recycling helped you identify how you might reduce how many you have? What are you doing differently now?
Barb Wasmoen 2/13/2023 7:24 AMOf course, saying "no" to a bag is first. Bags I do have come into the house are washed , reused or go out with Ridwell. -
Barb Wasmoen 2/08/2023 12:47 PMI have been really thinking about what I am purchasing at the store and then, I didn't even think as I picked up a bag of onions. Duh! I should have gotten single onions and used my own bag. Sometimes...
