I learned that even though I have lots of good habits in place there is still a lot I can learn. I learned to enjoy the challenge of looking for ways to go plastic free. And I learned that there are still limits to what I can access easily for my business to help me remove more plastic items from our use.

    At Home Plan a Garden
Besides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?

Our planning team is actually meeting in mid March- but I did take some time to page through a gardening book last weekend!

How difficult was this action for you? What made it easy or difficult?

Even at the bank I found that carrying my cloth tote let me save a plastic bag from use.

Our monthly newsletter features the campaign and my blog tells some of my story about how I’m thinking about plastic now
  • Reflection Question
    Personal Care Collect My Contacts
Take a moment to estimate how many disposable daily contacts you may have used over the years. What would be your impact now of switching to a contact brand with a longer lifespan?

Oh my, I’ve been wearing contacts for nearly 50 years. The last five or so have been with daily wear contacts- because my eyes have been getting more sensitive. 2x300x5 does add up.
  • Reflection Question
Community Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
Single use plastics have become normalized in our society to the point that most people don't see them as a problem. What did you do to advocate for less single-use items? What would you say to a friend, colleague, or family member who may not understand why these disposables are an issue?

We have made many efforts at Butter to move to biodegradable items, but it felt help to start a list of what we still use plastics for.
Our inventory sheet became an easy way to talk about plastic use and I hope it will lead to some creative solutions for reducing our use.
