Dan Swenson-Klatt 3/07/2023 4:34 PMI learned that even though I have lots of good habits in place there is still a lot I can learn. I learned to enjoy the challenge of looking for ways to go plastic free. And I learned that there are still limits to what I can access easily for my business to help me remove more plastic items from our use. -
Reflection QuestionAt Home Plan a GardenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Dan Swenson-Klatt 2/28/2023 3:56 PMOur planning team is actually meeting in mid March- but I did take some time to page through a gardening book last weekend! -
Reflection QuestionOn-the-go Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this action for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Dan Swenson-Klatt 2/03/2023 2:10 PMEven at the bank I found that carrying my cloth tote let me save a plastic bag from use. -
Reflection QuestionCommunity Share My ActionsIn what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?
Dan Swenson-Klatt 2/03/2023 7:09 AMOur monthly newsletter features the campaign and my blog tells some of my story about how I’m thinking about plastic now -
Reflection QuestionPersonal Care Collect My ContactsTake a moment to estimate how many disposable daily contacts you may have used over the years. What would be your impact now of switching to a contact brand with a longer lifespan?
Dan Swenson-Klatt 2/01/2023 8:08 PMOh my, I’ve been wearing contacts for nearly 50 years. The last five or so have been with daily wear contacts- because my eyes have been getting more sensitive. 2x300x5 does add up. -
Reflection QuestionCommunity Advocate For More Food Packaging OptionsSingle use plastics have become normalized in our society to the point that most people don't see them as a problem. What did you do to advocate for less single-use items? What would you say to a friend, colleague, or family member who may not understand why these disposables are an issue?
Dan Swenson-Klatt 2/01/2023 8:05 PMWe have made many efforts at Butter to move to biodegradable items, but it felt help to start a list of what we still use plastics for.
Our inventory sheet became an easy way to talk about plastic use and I hope it will lead to some creative solutions for reducing our use.
