Tim's Actions
On-the-go
Assemble a Zero Waste Kit
I will assemble an eating-out bag with cloth napkins and reusable utensils, containers, and cups and use it to avoid disposable to-go containers and cutlery for 1 meals each day.
At Home
Extend the Life of Electronics
Manufacturers want you to replace your phones every year. I will keep my phone for at least 3 years and make any necessary repairs or updates to keep it functioning as long as possible.
At Home
Watch a Documentary
I will watch a documentary film about plastic waste with family and friends and talk about what we learned.
Community
Estimate Your Plastic Footprint
I will complete a plastic consumption calculator to learn about my plastic footprint.
Food
Cook Meals with Zero Plastic Waste
I will prepare 1 meal(s) at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.
Pets
Choose All-Natural Pet Toys
I will give my pets toys made of natural materials like wool, hemp, or cotton, or make our own toys from repurposed items found in our home.
At Home
Make Green Cleaners
I will make 2 of my own cleaning products (cleaners, detergents, soaps) instead of buying them in new spray bottles each time.

Reflection QuestionPets Choose All-Natural Pet ToysIn what ways is supplying your pet with all natural pet toys better for your pet, better for you, and better for the environment?
Tim Pratt 2/18/2022 6:54 AMIt's easier when you have a cat. When I had a dog she loved plastic squeaky toys. My cat loves simple things such as a piece of yarn. -
Reflection QuestionAt Home Make Green CleanersWhich household cleaners did you try making? Have you been able to simplify your cleaning routine?
Tim Pratt 2/18/2022 6:52 AMI downloaded the recipes from the Hennepin County website and I'm ready to put them together. https://www.hennepin.us/-/media/hennepinus/business/work-with-hennepin-county/environmental-literature/green-cleaning-recipe-guide.pdf -

Reflection QuestionFood Cook Meals with Zero Plastic WasteDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some low-waste or reusable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable? Are there any items where it would be difficult to avoid plastic waste?
Tim Pratt 2/14/2022 9:16 AMI switched to glass storage containers. Added bonus is that I can reheat leftovers in the container - something I would never have done with plastic storage containers. -
