Reflection QuestionPersonal Care Switch to compostable flossFlossing is a hard habit to maintain for a lot of people! Does making your flossing routine more sustainable give you motivation to keep up this notoriously difficult habit?
Mary Parker 2/17/2021 3:24 PMdaily flossing is not a hard habit to maintain. while willing to change to a compostable floss, doing so makes no difference to my daily flossing routine. -
Reflection QuestionAt Home Avoid Harmful PlasticsDo some research on polystyrene and polyvinyl. How many items in your house already contain these toxins?
Mary Parker 2/17/2021 3:22 PMyikes! way too many -- cd cases, construction insulation, and the list goes on. -
Reflection QuestionAt Home Watch a DocumentaryWhich documentary did you choose to watch? What did you learn?

Mary Parker 2/08/2021 9:00 AMwe pick up litter, plastic and non-plastic, on our almost-daily walks. we don't always find plastic litter, but there's plenty of other forms of litter. -
Mary Parker 2/08/2021 8:57 AMwe don't shop every day so are unable to accomplish these as daily activities. we try to limit shopping to once every 1 1/2 weeks. -
Reflection QuestionFood Buy Unpackaged ProduceWhy do you think these products have so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?
Mary Parker 2/04/2021 12:10 PMi think producers might think storing and shipping produce in plastic packaging prolongs the life of some produce or reduces bruising and/or contamination. Being able to set a flat price/volume (e.g., bag of oranges) might be factor for producers as well. I think consumers think their produce is safer from contaminants if sealed in plastic rather than open for people to handle, insects or animals to touch, etc. -
Reflection QuestionOn-the-go Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this action for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Mary Parker 2/04/2021 12:03 PMthis was an easy, relatively inexpensive step to take. our coops, the textile center, and tare market are all close by and offer a variety of products from which to choose. care of these items is also easy peasy. they'll last many years.
