I picked up Bamboo Floss at Zero-ish (50&Penn). Comes in a refillable little glass bottle all in a paper box. Also available at the Linden Hills Coop. Works great. Going to keep using it.

Personal Care Switch to compostable floss
Flossing is a hard habit to maintain for a lot of people! Does making your flossing routine more sustainable give you motivation to keep up this notoriously difficult habit?

Been a daily flosser for many years. Like that the floss goes in the compost not the trash.

Has using bulk cat litter been a big transition for you or your cat? What tips would you have for other cat owners?

Just getting started with a 16-lb jug of So Phresh cat litter at PetCo (66 & Lyndale). No issues with our cat so far. Seems like her usual litter just in a refillable jug. Nice!

I love the Linden Hills Coop! We've been members since the mid-90s. Especially the bulk section and bakery.

    At Home Avoid Harmful Plastics
Do some research on polystyrene and polyvinyl. How many items in your house already contain these toxins?

Lots! I think polystyrene use is going down. Not used as much in meat trays in grocery stores or restaurant takeout. Polyvinyl is everywhere. hard to avoid.

I picked up a 16-lb jug of So Phresh cat litter at PetCo (66 & Lyndale). You bring the jug back and refill the container. Never liked the buckets or boxes. Nice to have a reusable jug.

I have posted about the Plastics Free Challenge on Nextdoor. What it is, how to join in, what I'm doing, and what I'm planning to do. Added a link and pictures. People have commented, asked questions, added more info. Good conversation.

    Food Shop the Bulk Bins
How has buying bulk impacted the quality of the food you receive? Why do you think our society relies more on prepackaged foods rather than buying in bulk?

I think the quality of the food is about the same, like organic granola in bulk vs plastic pouch. Prepacked food in convenient and familiar.

'The Plastic Problem - PBS NewsHour Documentary'
It's a 54 minute video available on PBS. My main takeaways are -
    - we have a huge and growing problem
    - we all need to use less plastic
    - Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is key to solving the problem

I'm already doing pretty good reducing my plastic use. Need to work on food items that come in plastic - granola, yogurt, milk, lettuce, etc.
