Reflection QuestionOn-the-go Visit a packaging-free storeDid you find anything at the store that you didn't expect? What was it, and did you find it useful?
Henrique Martha de Oliveira 2/27/2023 8:45 AMI visited a food coop that offers many products in bulk. For sure I'll go there more frequently now. But I was surprised to see many product offerings in conventional plastic packages. I also noticed some prices are sometimes 50% higher than in other conventional groceries. This means that plastic avoidance not only requires extra dedication from consumers, since plastic packaging is very convenient and is everywhere. It also demands additional expenses, which might limit the replacement of plastic among lower income populations. -
Reflection QuestionKids Provide AlternativesWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) does your household use regularly, and what substitutes are you trying?
Henrique Martha de Oliveira 2/06/2023 12:03 PMMostly straws and ready to eat food packages. We are banning straws at home and slowly avoiding to acquire single use food plastic packages. -
Reflection QuestionKids Pack Waste-Free LunchesHow do you make sure that your child keeps track of the reusable containers you send with them to lunch? Have you had any trouble with lost containers?

Reflection QuestionFood Buy Unpackaged ProduceWhy do you think these products have so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?
Henrique Martha de Oliveira 2/06/2023 12:00 PMIt's serving all players: consumer, product producers and packaging producers. But at a very high environmental cost, which is not accounted. We need redo our costs.
