Reflection QuestionCommunity Estimate Your Plastic FootprintWhat did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?
Sarah Lockwood 2/17/2021 5:53 PMWhile this didn’t feel like a complete review of plastic used, it did make me think about what plastic I’m using in what areas and look into ways to replace that. -
Reflection QuestionPersonal Care Purchase Alternative ToothpasteCurrently, most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. What has been your experience using plastic-free toothpaste options? How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?
Sarah Lockwood 2/15/2021 6:42 PMI purchased toothpaste tabs from Tare Market. Unfortunately, the flourish version came in a paper package - but it is compostable. I rarely see toothpaste tabs with fluoride in them, so I was very excited to find these! They work great and I look forward to seeing the long term benefits.-
Sarah Lockwood 2/17/2021 4:15 PMHi Jessie! The brand is Unpaste. I did just notice that it is a German company meaning that they’ve traveled far to get here, but hopefully more brands will start making tooth tabs w/fluoride. -
Jessie Roelofs 2/17/2021 12:15 PMOoh! What brand did you find that has fluoride?

Reflection QuestionPersonal Care Choose Plastic-Free DeodorantWhat benefits have you noticed after switching deodorant? Softer skin? Better scent? More peace of mind?
Sarah Lockwood 1/31/2021 6:38 PMI just picked up Meow Meow Tweet deodorant from Tare Market which comes in a completely compostable cardboard tube. I use the baking soda free version for sensitive skin and it works great! I love that the ingredients are all natural and that I can compost the container when done. -
Reflection QuestionOn-the-go Use A Reusable Mug or Collapsible CupGreat job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? Are there any situations where you still struggle to use a reusable mug?
Sarah Lockwood 1/30/2021 9:07 AMIt has been easier during the pandemic as I haven't gotten coffee out as much, but there are some places not accepting reusables at the moment. I try to only visit local places that will either fill my personal cup or I know they have compostable cups/lids so that I can dispose of them with organics. I definitely make coffee/tea at home more often now and always use a mug. -
Reflection QuestionAt Home Skip the Dryer SheetsHow difficult (or easy!) has it been for you to cut dryer sheets from your laundry routine?
Sarah Lockwood 1/23/2021 6:29 PMSo easy! I got wool dryer balls and add essential oil if I want a little scent. -
Reflection QuestionAt Home Recycle Plastic CapsWhat are some things you can do to avoid using plastic bottles and plastic caps in the first place?
Sarah Lockwood 1/21/2021 7:51 PMAlways use a reusable water bottle and try to find liquids in glass at the grocery store. -
Sarah Lockwood 1/02/2021 11:20 AMExcited to see another eco challenge! Plastic is definitely a hard one for me when it comes to food because it's often more affordable/convenient, but I'm looking forward to learning and challenging myself.-
Carolyn Wieland 1/06/2021 11:46 AMI often think that the decrease in packaging from food will lead to an increase in healthier items consumed!
