Went you start using reusable bags when shopping we run out of bags to reuse. We are looking into compostable trash bags. Need to be sure they are a positive solution first.
  • Reflection Question
    On-the-go Use Reusable Water Bottles
Can you think of any scenarios where using your own bottle is harder? How can you make sure not to get a disposable bottle in that case?

Sometimes we forget. We might ask for tap water instead.
  • Reflection Question

Most Starbucks do a good job of offering lids that don’t require straws. We also found the indigo tea company in Burnsville that offers compostable straws even for their bubble tea! Pizza Karma offers lots of great compostable items. Many places still offer regular straws and plastic silverware.  Could there be a way to  incentivize EP business and schools to offer more compostable options?

We are now starting to also collect plastic film with our plastic bags. Both are able to be recycled at our local store.

Our Girl Scout troop recycles school supplies from their school. So we have diverted 1000 of crayons, markers and pencils from the landfill for the last 4 years!
