Kathleen 's Actions

At Home

I will reuse containers destine for recycling to grow edible plants.

I am working on a plan to incorporate milk cartons and other recyclable containers to grow herbs, shoots and vegetable plants for my son's business. The following is the start of my business plan: On January 1, 2021, Kathleen Hartman founded *Q’s Corner dedicated to addressing the employment and social needs of her son Quintin Hartman and others with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) while providing fresh produce, grown using sustainable practices, to the community. *I'm still working on the name of the business.

I love this idea! I try not to use or buy items in plastic. This is impossible in our society, everything is packaged in plastic! I have been reusing bread bags for small garbage bins. The challenge is that sometimes these small bags will not fit the garbage bin.

The first day is going well! I planted microgreens in cut off half gallon milk cartons that were destined for recycling. By reusing and repurposing these materials I'm protecting the environment by saving resources.
