Kathleen Hanson 2/20/2023 1:58 PMSince the beginning of this challenge, I have not use plastic garbage bags in the house. I am placing my organics in an old cat litter pail outside. I have noticed that my garbage accumulation has shrunk significantly.

Kathleen Hanson 2/16/2023 8:21 AMI am posting a picture of my pride and joy. I have washed and recycled, plastic Ziplock bags for YEARS! I purchased this plastic bag drying rack from an “eco-fair” about 10 years ago before “eco-fairs” were cool! I’ve had to repair it once, but it is served me well.
I am now washing and reusing product Ziplock bags, and in some cases these bags are more heavy duty than the brand named plastic bags. The red bag in the photo is a dog treat bag that I will reuse.-
Kathleen Hanson 2/16/2023 12:13 PMOooooh, I love that idea. I will steal that idea from you! -
Annie Deutsch 2/16/2023 8:36 AMI reuse bags as well! I have a bag that's my "bone broth" bag. I keep rotisserie chicken bones and veggies scraps in a plastic bag in my freezer, for when I have enough for a new batch of broth.

Kathleen Hanson 2/08/2023 3:01 PMAre use the waxy liner from a Wheat Thins box to freeze grated cheese. I was able to write on the package and it seems successful so far. -
Kathleen Hanson 2/06/2023 4:32 PMI recently attended the Home Remodeling Show, and I sought out businesses that were concerned with reusing, recycling, environmental concerns and giving back to the community and environment.
In some cases, the vendors, thank me for my concern on these issues. -
Reflection QuestionPets Prepare Homemade TreatsDoes making your own pet treats seem like a habit you can keep up in the long term? What else can you do to reduce your use of plastic packaging that can come from taking care of your pet's needs?
Kathleen Hanson 2/05/2023 9:11 AMI recently found a recipe for sweet potato dog treats. I try to feed my dog, the best quality treats with very few additives, the additives are unnecessary, so anything I can find that is healthier I’m all for it.
The plastic packaging from the treats I have bought in the past can be reused for foods I want to freeze. -
