Wes Baish 2/27/2023 8:05 AMThink of all those tasty tasty microplastics you drink in that single-use plastic bottle. -
Wes Baish 2/26/2023 7:53 PMGot plastic bags around the house? Don't add them to the single-stream recycling bin! While plastic bags are very recyclable, the tear-able films gum up the complex mechanical sorting systems that make our recycling dreams reality! The best rule to follow? If you can stretch your thumb through the plastic, sort it separately for disposal with a retail carrier such as target or cub foods.-
Krina Damien 2/27/2023 9:36 AMYes! And if your plastic bags build up too much and you are too lazy (or forgetful!) to bring them to the store, sign up for Ridwell and they'll come pick them up for you!

Wes Baish 2/25/2023 7:57 AMFor years I have really loved the circular system of growler exchanges in the craft beer industry. There are so many food/drink items that can also benefit from this closed loop model. -
Wes Baish 2/24/2023 12:44 PMI can admit it's not always great washing and resuing ziplock bags, however there are lots of great reusable alternatives. When your ziplock has reached the end of its useful life, tear the zipper off and the rest can be added to plastic film recycling! -
Wes Baish 2/23/2023 6:05 AMIf you're done with that spray bottle, why not keep it around the house a little longer with some homemade cleaning solutions? Orange peels soaked in vinegar for 7-10 days make a great citrus scented cleaner, and 50/50 mixes of vinegar and dish detergent is the best solution I've seen to clean showers and tubs. When you're done, the bottle is recyclable, however the spray head is not. -
Wes Baish 2/21/2023 9:54 AMBe on your guard out there, everybody. I found 2 stickers on my orange today. That was close! Almost sent a sticker to organics waste. -
Wes Baish 2/20/2023 7:56 AMMy Monday morning routine included no plastic items in the shower! I made the decision to switch to bar soap and shampoo a few years ago and have never looked back. -
Wes Baish 2/19/2023 7:51 AMOn my weekend to do list: exchange my empty glass milk bottle. Several stores offer this closed loop method for milk, and I can't recommend it enough! -
Wes Baish 2/18/2023 2:25 PMPopcorn is a tasty treat that's best made in bulk. Bagged popcorn is packaged in high-temp resistant plastic, some of which even includes forever chemicals PFAS. Next movie night, skip the bag and pop in the pan!
