  • Reflection Question
    Pets Prepare Homemade Treats
Does making your own pet treats seem like a habit you can keep up in the long term? What else can you do to reduce your use of plastic packaging that can come from taking care of your pet's needs?

Buy treats in bulk if I can’t make them. Haven’t made treats yet, but plan on trying it. Buying compostable poop bags feels good.

Went to a thrift store where there were lots of clothes and household goods. I found that all cotton clothes in great condition were easy to find!
  • Reflection Question
    At Home Avoid Harmful Plastics
Do some research on polystyrene and polyvinyl. How many items in your house already contain these toxins?

My husband eats yogurt from the big containers and they are #5 (sour cream is also #5). The mustard Mom gave me is #1. Oops! I buy the Poupon in the glass... The ketchup is also a #1. I learned to avoid #1. :) And #7 too, if I see it.

https://sirwaggingtons.com/ These are the compostable doggie waste bags that I have tried. My first order was good. My second batch had issues separating the bags without getting a hole in the bottom so sometimes I would use 2/3 bags a poop...

How would you describe the experience of contacting your legislator to a friend? How might you encourage others to do the same?

It was easy to do! They always respond so you feel your voice is heard. Not many people reach out to their representatives but that is what they are there for. To listen to what we want. The more people that reach out about a topic makes them more likely to focus on it...
  • Reflection Question
At Home Choose Natural Clothing Fibers
What are the benefits (to people, animals, and the environment) of purchasing clothes made with natural fibers?

The micro plastics are a problem in the water and our bodies...but I love my fitness/outdoor gear. One step forward in clothes lasting longer, one step back in the health of us and the planet. Time to go back in time to cotton I guess.

I posted a link to this challenge which gives someone time to think and research on their own. (It is also easier to ignore than a conversation if there isn't interest... )

I learned our plastic consumption is always higher than we think even if we are conscious about it...

I know! I have been trying to reduce and everyday I realize how much I consume and how much further I have to go.
