I watched Plastic Wars. I learned that plastics producers have been pushing recycling as a way to improve the public image of plastic.
  • Reflection Question
On-the-go Assemble a Zero Waste Kit
What items do you keep in your kit? What steps have you taken to help make this a habit and remember to bring your kit with you?

I put enough cups, utensils, plates, and napkins in my kit for my family of four. I’ll keep it in my car for easy access when we’re out and about.
  • Reflection Question
    Personal Care Collect My Contacts
Take a moment to estimate how many disposable daily contacts you may have used over the years. What would be your impact now of switching to a contact brand with a longer lifespan?

I use monthly contacts, not dailies, but I'm storing up a stash to recycle in a few months.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Make Your Own
How do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?

I loved making my own bread. I chose a super simple recipe, but I’d love to try something more complicated.

If you want to try something a little more complicated, I could give you some of my sourdough starter! I wouldn't say it is very hard, but it is a bit more time consuming.
  • Reflection Question
Personal Care Switch to compostable floss
Flossing is a hard habit to maintain for a lot of people! Does making your flossing routine more sustainable give you motivation to keep up this notoriously difficult habit?

I definitely feel excited to use my new floss in its cute glass bottle!
  • Reflection Question
    Personal Care Replace My Toothbrush
What are the benefits of switching to bamboo, wood, or recycled-content toothbrushes? How could you get others to make this change, too?

Switching to a toothbrush that isn’t plastic keeps plastic out of landfills. I brought some friends along with me to buy my toothbrushes and I hope they’ll consider it the next time they replace theirs. One friend was excited to see that they make bamboo heads for electric toothbrushes too!

How cute are those small bamboo brushes for the girls!

I wasn't expecting Terra Cycle boxes. Now I know where to bring some hard-to-recycle items!

I've been meaning to join a buy nothing group for awhile, but never made the effort. I finally did it today! I'm excited to give other people's things a second life, and avoid throwing out my things by rehoming them!
