Jennifer's Actions

Pets

I will use a pooper scooper in the yard or use a poop bag to pick up multiple day’s worth of poop

Reduce plastic bag waste. I use one poop bag to pick up and put at least a week’s worth in a bag before I trash it. Then the bag I used as a “glove” becomes the new bag for the poop.

The Story of Plastic, it was very well done.  Good to have a reminder that plastic is a petrochemical
  • Reflection Question
At Home Skip the Dryer Sheets
How difficult (or easy!) has it been for you to cut dryer sheets from your laundry routine?

I only use dryer sheets on occasion in the winter when I wash synthetics fibers.  For towels, I use fabric softener instead, but that comes in plastic so I need to research alternatives.
  • Reflection Question
At Home Ditch the Plastic Dry Cleaning Bags
Not only does dry cleaning create plastic waste, but some dry cleaning processes also use harmful chemicals. What do you do to minimize the amount of dry cleaning you have done?

Furniture, linens, and clothing have been easy.  I need to remember to always look for used in other categories before I choose to buy new.

Hi ladies, thanks for joining the plastic-free challenge!  We are almost a week in.  How are things going?
My biggest challenge so far is to try to leave the grocery store with no plastic packaging.  I need to start shopping bulk, I think.
